Airbus Helicopters’ H175, Leonardo’s AW189, and Sikorsky’s S-92 are all medium twin-engine helicopters commonly positioned for offshore transport, search and rescue, and utility roles, but they sit in slightly different size and performance bands. The H175 and AW189 are typically viewed as “super-medium” class aircraft, while the S-92 is generally considered a heavier medium helicopter with a larger cabin and higher maximum weight. In range terms, the AW189 and H175 are broadly comparable and are often configured for long overwater legs in the roughly 450–500 nautical mile class depending on payload, reserves, and tanking. The S-92 can also be configured for similar or longer mission ranges, but its real advantage is maintaining useful payload and passenger load over demanding offshore profiles. Passenger capacity also differs by typical layout. The H175 and AW189 are commonly arranged for around 16–19 passengers in offshore seating, whereas the S-92 is often configured for about 19 and can be fitted for more in higher-density layouts, reflecting its larger cabin volume.
